Random But Useful Nutrition Fact #19

Alright so what is a free radical exactly? In a nut shell, free radicals are atoms or molecules with unpaired electrons orbiting the outer most part of the atom or molecule. So when these free radicals enter a system like let's say, an animal species (humans), the free radical can pair with other atoms and cause harmful chain reactions. So what is an Antioxidant then??? An antioxidant can donate electrons that can be paired with these free radicals or break them down to render them harmless. Antioxidants are the Vitamins A (carrots ), C (citrus), and E (oil). Protect your cells and saturate your body with antioxidants. #nutrition #antioxidants #freeradicals
